••• Thanks to the reader who sent in the above photo of the Hudson River Park dog run, which we’re all hoping will open by July 8. David wrote in to ask when the remaining upland parts (i.e., the Esplanade) of the Tribeca section of Hudson River Park will be complete. I asked Madelyn Wils, head of the HRP Trust, and she said the Esplanade will be opened at the same time as the dog run.
••• Remember how Stellar Management told non-market-rate tenants at Independence Plaza they could use the new “Amenity Center” (fitness center) for a fee? Well, the fee was just announced: $1,200 per apartment per year. For comparison’s sake, if you have to pay to use the gym in your building, will you share how much it costs?
••• Tribeca Pediatrics is opening West Coast offices: “In August we open an office in Marina Del Rey/Venice and later this year we open in Silverlake.”
••• Just a reminder that Friends of Duane Park‘s free swing-dancing party will be next Wednesday (June 19), 7:30-9 p.m. You don’t have to know how to swing dance—the party starts off with a lesson—and the Red Hook Lobster Pound truck will be there for sustenance.
••• Tribecan Marla Mase (her TCQ&A is here) is performing twice in August as part of the City Parks Foundation’s Summerstage program. See image.
••• BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center announced its 2013-2014 family series—a great way to keep your kids entertained through the spring.
••• OLighting appears to have left its Walker Street showroom; an email has yet to be answered and when I called to confirm it, the answering service had no idea.
••• Furniture showroom D’apostrophe appears to be leaving its 394 Broadway space. I called to ask about the “for lease” banner, and they said they were “probably” moving. (Not surprising if they moved to a non–street level location, since the business is to the trade.) Next time you’re on Broadway between Canal and Worth, take note of how many vacant storefronts there are. Dare we hope that the upcoming residential boom lead to a higher caliber of retail?
Given the “non-fairmarket residents” fee for fitness center that has been offered, does this require fair market renters to legally be allowed to request a reduction of $100 a month?
