BEEKMAN STREET PALACE
Nick Carr, the film location scout who writes the Scouting New York blog, got a peek inside 5 Beekman Street: “It’s completely empty, essentially abandoned, and has been for a decade, with much of the interior shuttered since 1940… Until now.” Spectacular stuff. Plus: Today’s WSJ has an article about the building.

TRIBECA ON SALE
There must be something in the water, because suddenly everyone—TAMA, Korin, Gary Graham, Shoofly—is having a sale. (Some of the ones in the article are over by now, which is why you might want to follow Tribeca Citizen on Facebook or Twitter.)

NKOTB: TAKAHACHI BAKERY
Takahachi Bakery (left) has officially opened on Murray Street, serving sandwiches, salads, and more—including enough breads and pastries to make their neighbors over at Muscle Maker Grill faint at the very thought.

IN THE NEWS
6/15 roundup: Celebspoting (we’re defining “celebrity” loosely these days). Plus: Opening dates for Imagination Playground and the James hotel; 225 Rector developer sued for fraud; and a new home for the 40-foot iguana that used to live around here.
6/16 roundup: NYU not looking at WTC, even though it said it was. Plus: Jay-Z and Beyoncé spotted leaving Pepolino; rezoning as a way to avoid crap hotels; rats; reviews of Tamarind and Bar Artisanal; and chef Andrew Carmellini to strike again.
6/17 roundup: Actor James Franco’s first art show will be at the Clocktower Gallery. Plus: Two buildings back from the dead; a chair at Karkula; CB1 gets threatening calls; Yankees plaque; Drake concert turns into a near riot; and BPC ground rent negotiations.

THE TCQ&A: “WE HAD OUR FIRST DATE AT MR. CHOW”
Meredith Gonzalez (right)—Laight Street resident and new volunteer for Art in All of Us—shows us around her Tribeca, including the neighborhood’s best burger, a go-to source for baby gifts, hanging out with (or at least next to) Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and where she celebrated her 30th birthday.

WICKIWORLD
Two reports from Wicki Boyle, one on the frustration of living on a street that’s constantly besieged by film crews and the other about a boat ride scouting out the course for the Red Bull Air Race, happening this weekend. (So brace yourself for low-flying planes.)

FILLING IN THE BLANKS
A reader recently wrote in with a list of six types of shops she’d like to see in the neighborhood. With so many interesting storefronts empty—like 135 West Broadway (left)—maybe we can inspire some new action around here…. (Indeed, the comments are full of suggestions.)

PROTESTING THE PROTESTS
The constant, overamplified protests outside City Hall Park—and the massive overreaction by the police—are getting out of control. So says me, anyway.
