Perk Up Your Monday

If you’ve been wishing for warmer weather, you got it—at least for a few hours, and accompanied by howling wind and thrashing rain. Perk up your Monday by buying a coffee at Wichcraft: The chain will donate 100 percent of today’s coffee proceeds to the American Red Cross relief effort in Haiti. (Alas, there’s no […]

Not That Tiger

“Express Your Inner Tiger at MOCA!” read the subject line of a recent email, which I have to admit raised my eyebrows…. Once I banished unpleasant thoughts about a certain professional golfer, I discovered interesting things in the email (which, I should mention, came from the Museum of Chinese in America and had to do with 2010 […]

Block Party!

After working as a stock trader on Wall Street for 10 years, Jennifer Esposito became a stay-at-home mom. “Now my youngest is at preschool,” she said. “I like to do something.” That something is interior design, decorating clients’ homes as well as developing products such as Jenny’s Blocks. / 1 comment

Firefly Closing: 40% Off Everything

Sad news from north of the Seaport: Firefly, the kid's clothing and toy store that has been a neighborhood favorite for three years, will be closing the Front Street location sometime in early February. (The Park Slope boutique will remain open.)

Meatball Heroes at the Harrison

The Harrison goes into special-menu overdrive, busting out prix-fixe menus for Restaurant Week and Valentine's Day, and serving a beer-inspired slate—including pork-belly sliders and onion rings—for the Super Bowl.
