If the harassment rises to that level? They're harassing people, assaulting people and stealing property. Lock them up — Sean on Teens Are Terrorizing Battery Park City
How have these kids been identified as Tribeca kids? Is it just because they are white? Seems a bit of a stretch. They might be from Tribeca, but since nobody knows their names or addresses, it seems like journalistic clickbaiting to claim they are Tribecan. I have a teen (a girl) and does any downtown parent of a teenager NOT KNOW that the waterfront and BPC esplanade- from the Brookfield Mall to the Westfield Mall, to piers, all the way up to village, not know that the entire area is a teen magnet for kids from all over the city? It's where teenagers go to escape parents. Might they be FIDI kids? Might they be from BPC? Might they be from SoHo or Grammercy or the Village? Might they be friends from several neighborhoods who meet up there? — Lynn on Teens Are Terrorizing Battery Park City

If these kids were black...I'll just leave it there. We're discussing race here, right? The usual American subliminal conversation about color and privilege and the resulting injustice? — Will on Teens Are Terrorizing Battery Park City

“Untitled Jenny Lumet Project” (aka “Higher Ground”) http://deadline.com/2016/09/cbs-jenny-lumet-hate-crimes-drama-alex-kurtzman-katie-couric-david-marshall-grant-put-pilot-1201823454/ CBS Nabs Jenny Lumet Hate Crimes Drama Produced By Alex Kurtzman & Katie Couric With Put Pilot Commitment Associated Press by Nellie Andreeva September 20, 2016 2:47pm In one of the biggest drama buys for CBS this season, the network has given a put pilot commitment to a character-based procedural from writer Jenny Lumet (Rachel Getting Married) and producers Katie Couric, David Marshall Grant (Brothers & Sisters), Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin. CBS TV Studios, where Kurtzman’s new company Secret Hideout is under an overall deal, is the studio. Penned by Lumet with Grant supervising, the untitled drama is being informally described as “The Good Wife meets Homicide.” It centers on an elite team of investigators for the Northeast Regional U.S. Hate Crimes Unit who must confront their own biases as they keep the peace by solving myriad crimes against humanity while acting locally but thinking of the national repercussions. The project, which CBS landed in a bidding situation with another network, marks the first sale for Secret Hideout, Kurtzman’s successor to CBS TV Studios-based K/O Paper Products. Under that pact, Kurtzman and Secret Hideout president of television Kadin also executive produce the upcoming CBS All Access Star Trek series, which Kurtzman co-created with Bryan Fuller. The CBS hate crimes drama also marks the first major scripted series sale for Katie Couric Media. Couric has been ramping up production through the company, including the upcoming Gender Revolution documentary for National Geographic, working with producing partner Mitchel Semel. Couric also is producing a movie in the works at Lifetime about the water crisis in Flint, MI. This also marks Couric’s return to CBS, where she anchored CBS Nightly News from 2006-2011. She is repped by CAA. CBS has been interested in dramas tackling the tough subject of hate crimes. Two seasons ago, the network developed For Justice, about the Criminal Section of FBI’s Civil Rights Division, which went to pilot directed by Ava DuVernay. Lumet, daughter of director Sidney Lumet, started off as an actress before segueing to screenwriting. She is repped by ICM Partners. Grant, who has worked as executive producer on the CBS/ABC Studios/CBS Studios medical drama Code Black, is repped by CAA. Secret Hideout is repped by CAA and attorney Michael Gendle. — James on Seen & Heard: Secret Service Limousine

No need to send photos. You win! This manhole is indeed on the north side of the AT&T Long Lines Building. — Erik Torkells on Where in Tribeca…?
Hi Erik, after walking around Tribeca today whilst showing open houses to my clients on Worth Street I came upon the one manhole in this picture and discovered that actually (as you may certainly know) there are FOUR of them placed right outside each of the lights in the pavement on the north end side of the AT & T building outside the public park! I was elated to actually see just the one but when I discovered there were FOUR I was ecstatic! I have photos but not sure where I should send them? — Sonia F. Stock on Where in Tribeca…?

Hmm. They could do homework, study for tests and quizzes, join after-school clubs and activities, join sports at their schools, little league, soccer league, get involved at one of the three area community centers or the Y or the NYC Parks community centers. They could volunteer to make the area a better place and pick up community service credit for school. They could volunteer with churches, soup kitchens, at homeless shelters, etc. They could get jobs (which is admittedly tricky due to all the outrageous anti-work laws and regs in NYC). They could be a part of NYPD or FDNY Explorers. BTW, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS (OR GUARDIANS)? — James on Teens Are Terrorizing Battery Park City
Have YOU ever tried setting anything up like a neighborhood watch, tried getting politicians or the bureaucracy to act on something, convinced a local business or corporation to take responsibility for the effects of their actions, or had the BPCA do anything competently? It is impossible for us regular folks on our own. People need to get together and be vocal together. But, most will not get off their asses. (if YOU have been successful in doing any of that, please take the lead, or if you know someone who can) — James on Teens Are Terrorizing Battery Park City

From The New York Times: The State of Your Block, 2017 "Prior to a change in ownership several years ago of our buildings, Greenwich Street was bustling with mom-and-pop small businesses: a pizza shop; a dry cleaners; a terrific homey cafe; a family-owned pharmacy; and a deli — exactly what turns a street into a community. All the storefronts except the Duane Reade are now empty. The once vital street is now bleak and depressing. — Nathan Weber, 75. Greenwich Street between North Moore and West Streets. Or their parents should take some f***ing responsibility. These are not underprivileged kids from the projects. They are residents who have full access to the parks and ball fields in the neighborhood. This is not a case of "use your inside voice."
