We’re sad to see another great local spot leave the Tribeca area! For another building to just sit with no approvals. Slowly overseas billionaires are buying up nyc city real estate to wash their money and hide billions in plain sight. This is bigger than a little bar closing this is ruining the life and culture of New York City slowly. Hospitality in New York sets the bar and standard for the rest of the world and we’re watching places continue to close!It’s places like Belle that make neighborhoods special. Belle gave it everything in the pandemic to provide a welcoming space to the neighborhood and give hope that hospitality and normalcy would return again. To close down due to this after solidifying their space in the community is heartbreaking. — Belle of the ball on Belle Reve will close at the end of this month

45 Park Place is my standout example in this sad collection. It can't be cheap to rent a crane for years on end, and I'm sure that high winds (and now an earthquake) make it an unwelcome neighbor. But it's 65 West Broadway that really grabs my attention. Among the first world cities, New York ranks number one in filth, lawlessness and rudeness, you don't realize until visiting other countries. Some New Yorkers like to say this is the greatest city in the world, ( sometimes I suspect they say so to protect their real estate value) they need a reality check. One could argue that a weed shop next to a bakery will be a boon for the bakery- but people don't consume in the dispensary- they just buy and go eslewhere to enjoy. my concern is the potential for robbiers/burlaries bc it is an all cash business. most have guards( are they armed?) and that situation make me uneasy, to put it mildly. i agree that more legal shops should open in hopes of driving out the illegals, but not next to my bakery. i guess that make me a NIMBY? it is hard enough to keep my head above water, especially since my new lanldlord( smae lanlord who will rent to the disoensary) has raised my rent greatly and i think a dispensary will NOT help me at all. there are plenty of empty storefronts in our neighborhood- many on streets with far more foot traffic. i plan to urge CB1 to vote this down. — madeline c lanciani on Community Board 1 agendas for April

Apart from providing a market for many expensive Department vehicles which are then parked in prohibited spaces all over Tribeca, does the Dept of Buildings actually serve any purpose, whatsoever? How is it that all these sites, well-documented in the report can just be allowed to remain fallow ad infinitum. Perhaps any site which has been stalled for x months should automatically be put up for auction and sold with the contractual proviso that either the site is cleared up or completed within a set period of time. It is upsetting that United American Land has so many properties downtown. I have reached out to them many times over the years regarding their sites and they can care less about this neighborhood. Trash, scaffolding, human feces (yes, feces) they refused to clean off their building that was near completion. Was there for months and they could not have been ruder about it. Family owned company I wish they would sell it all and move elsewhere.
