  • The Feds are the only ones who care about this issue. NYPD is incapable and Christopher Marte is worthless. Keep reporting it to ICE. Go to Ice.gov and fill out the online form or call the number. You can remain anonymous. You can also submit photos online. In the individual name portion, you can write "unknown" or "na" as the objective is to report the organized crime. There is nothing "special" about the human trafficking, forced labor, child labor and terrorism being funded by this organized crime operation. — SoHo on Counterfeit sales on Broadway are worse than ever

  • Funny to remember Bubby’s,as I did the very first logos on the glass,of a cup of coffee…They had apple pies in the window, and you could park on Hudson. El Teddy’s was there, with the rocks, and glass, and liberty,on the roof. Bubbys had waffles, and big chocolate chip cookies, and its country vibe. — karen muir on Seen & Heard: An all-time record at Bubby’s?

  • It’s an American Kestrel. Earlier this summer, when the bird was much younger, it ran into a window on a building on Laight between Hudson and Greenwich. We sat with it for about an hour before it could fly on its own. We called the New York Audubon Society, who referred us to the Raptor Society. They were the ones that let us know it was a kestrel. We often see it around Collister and Laight - a real local! — Nschuene on Seen & Heard: An all-time record at Bubby’s?

  • The Bubby's line is probably 90% tourists as it tends to get long whenever there is some sort of holiday. I passed by this morning around 8:30 and the line was almost to Franklin... on a Monday! — lpfinally on Seen & Heard: An all-time record at Bubby’s?

  • F.Y.I. The article on the I.C.E. raid back in October was written with the utmost fear mongering‼️There weren't any 'tanks'. That is called a Police armored vehicle that I.C.E. was using. The N.Y.P.D. has used one over the years along with every other local & State law enforcement agency in the country! When Gov. Hochul travels to Manhattan she has a N.Y.P.D. security detail with machine guns as well! Go into Penn Station or Grand Central Station & you will see National Guardsmen with machine guns‼️ — Anthony Lispenard Bleecker on Counterfeit sales on Broadway are worse than ever

  • I cannot know where your "friend that is knowledgeable" is getting their information, but the reason they are reluctant to arrest these people — and a few people who respond here have been reminding others endlessly of this — is that it is _expensive_ to arrest and incarcerate people. It is less expensive to let them earn their pittance and go to whatever they make as their home and feed themselves. Either they do that, or they go into the system and WE (taxpayers) pay their room and board until the waaay overloaded legal system gets around to dealing with them. That has been the inside word to the best of my knowledge since it was first researched and recorded publicly during the first Giuliani term. It's an unfortunate fact. They idea that law enforcement is sensitive to their deportation is not plausible. — mulciber on Counterfeit sales on Broadway are worse than ever

  • Not to mention...if you want to try it so badly, you can walk in pretty much at-will anytime Mon-Fri. Katz's has a similarly mind-blowing line. The power of TikTok is remarkable... — SL on Seen & Heard: An all-time record at Bubby’s?

  • The vendors essentially have a "free pass" to sell their illegal counterfeit goods because selling illegal counterfeit goods is not considered a "serious crime." As a "Sanctuary City NYC's sanctuary policies limit local police cooperation with federal immigration enforcement (ICE) for civil violations, focusing on serious crimes" Of course I am not an expert on the matter and this is only my opinion based on what I see and what I have read. — Larry on Counterfeit sales on Broadway are worse than ever

  • Exactly. There's no sense in waiting in such lines, when there are so many great restaurants in NYC...not to mention the default option of cooking at home. — Marcus on Seen & Heard: An all-time record at Bubby’s?

  • To me the most shocking part of the Bubby's thing is that it does not matter how rough the weather is outside........ Customers are unfazed. I couldn't ever wait on that kind of line for any restaurant in the world. Maybe that's the definition of a NYer — A Tribeca Parent on Seen & Heard: An all-time record at Bubby’s?

  • Nicki is at the heart of all things Tribeca. Her smile and her generosity, both with her time and with her Khushi products (which have been donated to every Tribeca community auction and event for decades!), are Tribeca staples. We will miss Khushi, but congratulations to Nicki on a new exciting phase. Enjoy! xxx — Hanne on Nicki Francis will wrap up Khushi Spa Products — for now

  • Thank you so much for including this very moving and heart-warming story about one of the incredibly dedicated Hudson River Park workers. The folks who take care of the Park give the whole city the gift of beautiful, green open spaces, not just around the holidays but every day of the year. And for one lucky Tribeca resident, that was literally the gift of life. What a wonderful holiday inspiration for us all. — Connie Fishman on A life is saved after quick thinking in Hudson River Park

  • Please take the Canal Street Redesign Survey: https://sohobroadway.org/take-the-canal-st-survey/ Please insist in the comments that first priority should be to clear the sidewalks of illegal vendors. The proposed plan will actually make the problem worse. It recommends widening the sidewalks, which I would be all for in normal conditions, but in the current lawless conditions, this will just attract even more vendors and customers who don't care (or get a thrill from it) that they are supporting organized crime in our neighborhoods. — Marcus on Counterfeit sales on Broadway are worse than ever

  • Lived here longer than you likely have been alive. Work hard, respect the law, pay my taxes and expect to live in a community where those things are valued. None of the folks selling that garbage are doing any of those things and have no vested interest in the neighborhood. I and my neighbors do. If your version of a community is a drug fueled free for all of illegal vending, then I suspect your opinion is not only in the minority, it is contra to how any rational human being would think. If pearl clutching means wanting a better, safer, cleaner community, slap a mumu on me and call me grandma. — Downtown Dad Reborn on Counterfeit sales on Broadway are worse than ever

  • Well, Dan, if you'd lived here as long as I have, you'd know the street vending on Canal, in its curent form, isn't classic NYC and was never like this until recent years, what with suburbanite tourists jamming the sidewalks & as much in the way as the sellers. At least, not until uncaring chains & vacant space began appearing on those parts of Canal. I'd love to see it all replaced with mom&pop stores, like the parts of Canal currently where the street vending is chased off -- like the entire north side of canal, or both sides east of maybe Baxter. — J Frank P on Counterfeit sales on Broadway are worse than ever
