I think the picture is showing the northeast corner of Sixth and Walker (or the southwest corner of the building). And I would call that block a trapezoid… — Robert Ripps on Blank Street Coffee is coming to Sixth and Walker

There is staff there now. Parents do NOT like being told what to do. — Tribeca Citizen on The young vandals of Washington Market Park
You do know this project predates this administration, correct? — malcolm on Deliverista Hub at City Hall will open soon
When we neighbors organized to create this lovely )then private) park back in 1983 we had on site paid staff who monitored the grounds with great care, as did most parents who were thrilled to have our first green space. If no one is supervising the grounds on site now that the city has taken over control it’s absolutely up to the parents to police the grounds themselves or this once beautiful space will fall into ruin. How sad. — Jean Grillo on The young vandals of Washington Market Park
Is the Parks Dept or the Friends allowed to impose fines for this, for damaging public property or something? And would it help to post signs? — SW on The young vandals of Washington Market Park
Amen! When you ride around in an SUV all day and play act at filling potholes, why worry about sidewalks or garbage or schools or being accosted by insane people? There are photo ops to be had! — Downtown Dad Reborn on Deliverista Hub at City Hall will open soon
It makes absolutely zero sense to put what will become a heavily trafficked bicycle facility on a sidewalk, a place where it is illegal to ride bikes (a law that “deliveristas” completely fail to abide by). This creates a major safety hazard for the thousands of pedestrians who walk there daily, who will now gain the benefit of getting to dodge even more e-bikes whizzing around the sidewalk where they don’t belong. Just more special interest nonsense from NYC that cuts directly against the quality of life of the average New Yorker. — person on Deliverista Hub at City Hall will open soon
From all the things that City Hall could worry they went for this? so now we are going to have more loitering for sure, and people just standing there? we REALLY need to get better people elected. — Richard on Deliverista Hub at City Hall will open soon
I don't love what it does to the sidewalk there. Then again, deliveries to the City Hall neighborhood will now be fast as heck. — J Frank P on Deliverista Hub at City Hall will open soon
I too am surprised by the hullabaloo around this. Maybe I shouldn't be -- it's civic architecture, after all, in a prominent (if overlooked) location, and first of a kind. Regardless of one's feelings about this sector of the economy and its workforce, food-delivery and deliveristas are a constant topic for discussion. I think TC's coverage has been fantastic. Thanks, Pam, for taking this matter so seriously and offering up so much detail. The photos in this post are informative and ennobling. Bravo! — Komanoff on Deliverista Hub at City Hall will open soon
What an awesome addition to City Hall. Really makes the place look exactly like the center of the world should. Stately and austere. How about: 1. Rehabbing the dead lawn in City Hall Park 2. Getting the broken fountain to work 3. Removing the graffiti on the benches 4. Getting rid of the vendors that clog the east side of the park 5. Fixing the broken lights in the park Allowing the city to fall apart one block at a time. Priorities. — Downtown Dad Reborn on Deliverista Hub at City Hall will open soon

I bike on Lafayette often - there’s very little traffic there and what there is, moves pretty well. It never gets jammed like 6th Ave does. It feels like to me lime it was designed so wide when there was a different commerce pattern downtown. Also I just came back from Buenos Aires where all the bike lanes are two-way - bicyclists are careful when passing each other and it works rather well, actually. Although I have to say that the fact that there aren’t that many throttle electric bikes there and when someone is on one, they’re in the main roadway with the cars, helps A LOT. — Judy Levine on Lafayette will get a new two-way bike lane through the Village and Soho
The children are indeed digging them up and moving them. I saw one boy loading them on to his scooter , moving them half way around the park then building what he called a "scooter killer," to make a hazard for kids on scooters. I have no idea how to stop this if the parents or caregivers allow it. I did tell one caregiver to stop her charge from trying to pull down and break branches off of a tree. — JS Miller on The young vandals of Washington Market Park
