This is really such a shame. WSH was the best place to smoke in NY.. hand down. The laid-back, unpretentious atmosphere was unmatched. Huge and airy with tin ceilings.. quiet but friendly, refined yet relaxed. The selection was one of the best in the entire city and was operated by it's owner, Richard, who had a vast knowledge of cigars and a million other things, guaranteeing a diverse clientele of friendly and smart people from all walks of life. It was a true gem. Sticking through the worst times this neighborhood (or veritably any other can possibly) have seen, it's sad to see it go. I wish Richard many years of happiness on the golf courses and hope, with little expectation, for a similar place to grace this city one day again. Another nail in the coffin. — Andy on The Wall Street Humidor Has Closed
Why would they remove the Koons? It's been there for over 10 years! I'm wondering if they are doing some sort of piping work for the fountain below where the sculpture was? They have it fenced off. I hope they intend on putting it back or replacing it. I loved ot=[ — Anthony on Seen & Heard: Philly Pretzel Factory Opens Next Week

I read the "quote marks" on the new baby sign as animation marks, the way Keith Haring used them in this "new baby" image, and many others: https://www.google.com/search?q=keith+haring&client=firefox-b-1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjp16WyyIjeAhXL54MKHX-NAgsQ_AUIDigB&biw=1920&bih=913#imgrc=8hEzy6u9ovvJnM:https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fhamiltonselway.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2017%2F04%2FUntitled-1-1983_48_100_HR-1030x865.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fhamiltonselway.com%2Ffacts-about-keith-haring%2F&docid=xPCjb0mYVu956M&tbnid=8hEzy6u9ovvJnM%3A&vet=10ahUKEwiu-fC2yIjeAhXM64MKHWiKAAQQMwhuKAQwBA..i&w=1030&h=865&client=firefox-b-1&bih=913&biw=1920&q=keith%20haring&ved=0ahUKEwiu-fC2yIjeAhXM64MKHWiKAAQQMwhuKAQwBA&iact=mrc&uact=8 — Jane on Quote-Unquote Funny
I’ve been waiting for something to be written about the increase in bees! It’s crazy. I’ve lived in Tribeca for over 13 years and have never seen anything like this. My family can’t eat at any indoor/outdoor restaurants on west broadway as my kids are quite tense and jumpy around bees so the dining experience is miserable. We tried to have an enjoyable weekend picnic at Washington Market Park a few weeks ago and again the bees were aggressive and would not leave us alone while we tried to eat. I was even ordering from the outside window at Jack’s coffee and two bees literally fell from the sky on to my coffee cup on the window sill. It would be quite a coincidence that this occured around the time someone started growing thousands of bees. — LS on Seen & Heard: Aggressive Bees
Prices are sky high. Higher than Whole Foods. Better be great or gonzo. — perryo on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski
Caden likely gets individual liquor licenses for each event. You should email Community Board 1 (man01@cb.nyc.gov) about the issue, including any 311 complaint numbers. To maximize the chances of CB1 doing something about it, get your neighbors to call 311 and send emails, too. — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: New Name for the Former Ritz-Carlton
Does anyone know if Caden actually have liquor license. They have been having loud part almost on a weekly basis now. And we spoke to the police waiting outside of the building when the party was going on, they told us that the place has all the required license and it is legitimate. I wonder how they got the liquor license issued in this neighbourhood. — sean on Seen & Heard: New Name for the Former Ritz-Carlton
Good call, Tribeca Mom! I have tried the donuts there, excellent even if tiny. I'll have to try some of their other items. I still hope for PeaceFood to open a TriBeCa branch... — Marcus on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski

Funny, I almost deleted that one before posting this, but I didn’t think anyone would read it that closely. I suppose the quotation marks imply a slang or idiomatic usage. — Erik Torkells on Quote-Unquote Funny
I agree about "curb". While the sign owner might not have meant it ironically, since no NYC dog owner has actually curbed their dog (i.e., made sure their dog's waste went into the gutter rather than on the sidewalk) since the Dinkins administration (or maybe even earlier), I'd say that the scare quotes are appropriate because the sign owner means, "Don't let your dog piss on my stoop!" — N on Quote-Unquote Funny

All of these gave me a much-needed laugh this morning so thank you. But the "curb" your dog one seems appropriate for quotation marks to my brain. Is there a third usage for quotation marks perhaps? — Cobaye on Quote-Unquote Funny
