SUGGESTION BOX: BOGARDUS PLAZA
After I disparaged the green paint on the street, the Friends of Bogardus Garden asked what I’d suggest instead. Which got me wondering: What do you think should be done with the plaza, aesthetically speaking, now that it’s on its way to becoming permanent? The comments range from cobblestones to provocatively shaped chairs designed by James Franco (thanks, Smithers).

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: CROSSFIT 212
According to Jim McDade, who just opened CrossFit 212 on Franklin Street, “The fusion of weightlifting, running, and gymnastics movements produces great results.”

PIER 15 UNVEILED
The East River Waterfront’s revamped pier is pretty fierce, with lots of ramps, stairs, and cut-outs. On a gray morning with few people, it wasn’t the warmest place to be—I kept imagining I was in an Italian prison yard, aesthetically speaking, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The lower level is in one post; the upper level is in another.
