January 12, 2015 Restaurant/Bar News
Café Bari, which sat at the corner of Broadway and Spring from 1993 to 2014, has reopened a few blocks south. The trapezoidal space at the southeast corner of Broadway and Canal is small (just seven stools) but stylish, with a brick wall that’s both exposed and painted white, tile floors, and picture windows that make ideal perches for people-watching. All in all, it’s a big upgrade for that intersection.
Unlike Bari’s last incarnation, the new one is not a full-service restaurant. It’s a café and juice bar, serving a small menu of sandwiches, salads, and soup, along with La Colombe coffee, Harney & Sons tea, Balthazar pastries, and Spindrift sodas. “A smaller menu means the food is fresher,” explained one of the enthusiastic staffers.
Café Bari is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. (8 a.m. on weekends) to 7 p.m. Delivery will be offered sometime in the future.
Café Bari is at 416A Broadway (at Canal), 212-431-4350.
