The Shopdogs of Tribeca (Vol. 7)

BOOMERANG TOYS (TRIBECA)
Name: Cosmo.
Breed: English Bulldog.
Owner/parent/boss: Karen Barwick.
His workday: Cosmo mostly works in the Tribeca location. (He used to visit both the Battery Park City store and the Tribeca store but he’s been banned from the BPC store as he barks at the rubber ball display in the store and building security don’t like it.) After his long trek from his home in Battery Park City to Tribeca, he’s usually exhausted just showing up for work. He is always ready to greet anyone who comes in the store and loves all the kids and babies that come in. Apart from that he likes to “oversee” things from his bed behind the counter.

BOOMERANG TOYS (BATTERY PARK CITY)
Name: Buddy.
Breed: Havanese.
Owner/parent/boss: Toni de la Vega.
His workday: Buddy loves going to work at the Battery Park City store. He usually only comes in the afternoon. When he does he tries to greet everyone and is always willing to give kisses (licks) to all. He will also sit on my lap to get a better view over the counter—think of Simba on Pride Rock!

VALLEY
Name: King Carton.
Breed: English Mastiff.
Owner/parent/boss: Kimmy Carton.
His workday: He comes to work everyday with me and right now is being trained so he goes out every 50 minutes. He eats a early dinner at 4 p.m. and plenty of naps in between. He is 3 months old and so cute and cuddly. He is learning to sit and come and is already part of the Valley family.

STEVEN SCLAROFF
Name: Janet (top) and Whiskey
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi and Tennessee mutt beyond identification, respectively.
Owner/parent/boss: Steven Sclaroff and Tim Groen.
Ttheir workday: Their day consists of 85 percent napping with some light office security detail and lunch crumb patrol making up the rest of the time. This is their favorite time of year because (without either the snow or the hot sun) their afternoon walks are the longest. They get two walks during office hours, weather permitting. Janet is the alpha, but considering they’re both total nerds, her alphaism mainly manifests when Janet gets to pick toys or beds before he does. Whiskey’s type is apparently a common mutt in Tennessee. We’ve had like three tourists from the state tell us that they either owned or knew dogs just like him.

HOUSEMAN
Name: Fritz.
Breed: Portuguese Podengo.
Owner/parent/boss: Jordana and Ned Baldwin (and his human brother and sister are named Irving and Hazel).
Workday: Mostly there is sleeping. Fritz wakes up periodically to eat and do a little construction supervision. He likes to walk around the block and smell who’s been there. It’s nice having him with me while we’re tidying up the restaurant but I’d never hire him to be a host. He’s kind of a noisy greeter.
