In the News: The Reinvention of 1 Wall Street

1 Wall rendering by Cetra Ruddy••• New York YIMBY on 1 Wall St.: “The first renderings of what the building will eventually look like, courtesy of a tipster, who sent along CetraRuddy-designed plans that transform the building’s base into a major retail destination, and its upper floors into condominiums and a hotel.” I still think the Four Seasons restaurant makes sense there.

••• The New York Times did an Austrian Riesling tasting, so obviously Terroir‘s Paul “Riesling” Grieco was going to be invited. Also on hand: North End Grill‘s Mia Van de Water (who is running some interesting wine dinners over there these days; up next, the South of France on July 28).

••• “Preschool of America in Battery Park City reopened on Mon., July 6 after having its operating license suspended last month after losing track of a toddler who reportedly wandered into the street.” —Downtown Express

••• Photographer Daniela Stallinger has a beautiful travel website called Bearleader Chronicle, and she asked me to offer some tips on where to go in Tribeca. (Daniela and I go way back—we worked on a story for Travel + Leisure that involved traveling with Bill Blass, but that’s a story for another day.) One caveat: I actually suggested all of northeast Tribeca as where to find independent design stores, not just Property, which I only point out so that the other don’t feel left out! Anyway, the photos are terrific.

  1. I agree about the Four Seasons at One Wall Street. I also think there is no better location for the rumored 250,000 sf Nordstrom Store. I also think Whole Foods should take the space where the Chase Branch is now (perhaps first floor and basement?) That would be awesome!

  2. Ahh, Anne, you are in the minority. :-) Most people would LOVE to see this happen.
