New Kid on the Block: CityMD

CityMD Tribeca front desk The CityMD chain of walk-in medical offices has opened a Tribeca outpost on Chambers Street—it’s the company’s 47th location in New York/New Jersey. Urgent care, which has only recently taken off in New York City, is how much of the rest of the country deals with medical issues such as stitches, X-rays, and travel immunizations when their primary care physician is unavailable and the emergency room is overkill.

The Tribeca office has 10 examination rooms and is open every day of the year (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends). Most major insurance is accepted, and without it a basic visit is $125, with additional charges depending on the procedure. The company prides itself on customer service, sending any relevant information to your primary-care or other physician and following up over the phone.

CityMD is at 87 Chambers (between Church and Broadway), 212-335-0594; citymd.com.

  1. Will be major competition to the one on Chambers and West who don’t take any insurance.

  2. I’ve had only great experiences from their location on 23rd Street..having them in the neighborhood is such terrific news!

  3. So glad they have arrived in the neighborhood. With an internist in the upper east side who is generally unavailable for emergent situations, I’ve used City MD on 23rd Street and have only good things to report — professional, friendly and no wait. The other place that doesn’t take insurance deserves to shut down.
