Canal Street Market is a massive upgrade for a stretch of Canal known more for souvenir schlock. The stalls of 28 vendors—some long-term anchors, others popping up for a few weeks or a month—fill the giant space with ceramics, apparel, plants, housewares, jewelry, chocolate, candles, art, and more. Much of the merchandise is relatively affordable (for Soho and Tribeca, not for Canal). The food half will open soon.
