NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: THE GREEK
“This is definitely a passion project for me,” says Tom Galis, owner of The Greek, which opened last night. “I wanted to design something that exemplified the meaning of going to a Greek taverna—from attitude to design elements to food.” Read all about it (includes lots of pix and the menu).

CRISTINA DOS SANTOS IS CLOSING HER N. MOORE SHOP
And what’s replacing it is… a Gap, or at least a store for one of the company’s many brands. Is Tribeca really becoming the downtown Upper West Side? (Note: Cristina is planning to reopen elsewhere.)

CONDOLENCES
I didn’t know (or ever even see, alas) James Gandolfini, but I know a lot of you had interactions with him. (And this New York Times article is a must-read.) Please send any anecdotes or appreciations to tribecacitizen@gmail.com and I’ll gather them into a tribute.
