April 13, 2015 Restaurant/Bar News
The killing season won’t stop: The Emerald Pub, which has been around since 1972, has closed and been cleared out. It’s just the latest change along that west Spring Street corridor: 508 and Pão closed, soon to be replaced by Ned Baldwin’s Houseman and a sibling of Long Island’s Harbor Mist, which will join Giorgione, Union Bar + Kitchen, and Lazy Point.
The owner of Emerald Bar had plans to turn the former Don Hill’s space into a bar called the Hills. No clue if that’s still happening; there’s been no sign of activity beyond a few events held there, and the Hills website no longer works.

This is sad. RIP.
Hey TC – what do you know about Lazy Point?
Not enough — haven’t had a chance to go yet. More of a bar than a restaurant (but with “bar fare”), and looks fun.
This is pretty sad.
At one point I would tell people that this was the best bar in NYC without blinking.
However the closing of Anchor, Don Hills, and fall off of Sway killed the block.
RIP to Emerald… I’ll never forget the fights, endless amounts of Irish car bombs, Veronica’s generosity, or Vinny ordering shots of water to a bunch of yuppies.
