New Kid on the Block: Rosa Mexicano

Rosa Mexicano Tribeca boothsRosa Mexicano‘s Tribeca outpost, now open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, subtly reinvents the Washington Market Tavern space with mirrors behind the bar, a low wall down the center of the dining room, and a dazzling lantern installation in the raised back room. There are seats for around 60 in the dining room—at the booths along the eastern wall and the two-tops across the way—and 30 at the long bar. The menu’s right column (right) is mainly favorites from other Rosa Mexicano locations; the left column is where you’ll find many new dishes, including an expanded array of tacos. Downstairs is Masa y Agave, a cocktail bar with a separate menu (below) that’s a bit more aimed at grazing.

Rosa Mexicano is at 41 Murray (between Church and W. Broadway), 212-849-2885; rosamexicano.com.

  1. The road that led to Rosa Mexicana closely follows Tribeca’s own journey. From gritty but real (Biddy Early’s) to a high priced chain. You all can decide whether that’s good or not…I’m just pointing it out.

  2. None of the menus on their website have prices, so you have to actually go in to find out what the dishes cost.
    Think that’s simply an omission?
I would bet NOT- just a trick to get you in!

  3. The prices are ludicrous.

    • You haven’t been to the lousy restaurants in BPC. Southwest has quesadillas for $16 + and they are REPULSIVE. Rosa Mexicano is a steal.
