FIRST IMPRESSIONS: CHINA BLUE
Having done my best to erase my actual first impressions of China Blue, the new Shanghainese restaurant in the Capsouto Frères space, I headed back for dinner this past Saturday night.

THREE RESTAURANTS HAVE CLOSED
Churrascaria Tribeca (making way for a Mexican seafood restaurant), Portobello’s Pizzeria (future Juice Press site?), and Blueberry Fusion Café have all closed.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: KAREN LORD PILATES MOVEMENT
“I really believe in Pilates,” says Karen Lord, who has opened a 3,200-square-foot studio on Duane. “It saved my life.” Her commitment to bringing it to everyone includes pay-what-you-can community classes.

NEIGHBORS FIGHTING RECOVERY FACILITY IN FIDI
The Exponents organization, which “helps people struggling with substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and reentry to the community after incarceration,” is planning to move to 2 Washington Street. Residents have started a petition against it, and Community Board 1 gave it a harsh, ugly welcome.
