Loft Peeping: Ku-Ling & Evan Yurman

Yurman loft dining table by William Waldron courtesy Elle DecorElle Decor September 2016The September issue of Elle Decor features the Tribeca home of filmmaker Ku-Ling Yurman and her husband, Evan Yurman, who “designs the men’s collection for David Yurman, the jewelry company founded by his father.” They both grew up in Lower Manhattan, and had been residing in “an open-plan loft farther downtown” when their family of four was about to go up by one. So they bought in northwest Tribeca and hired Moschella + Roberts for a renovation.

Of note:
••• Those casement windows are 11 feet tall.
••• “In transitional areas of the house, such as hallways, rather than line the walls with a costly treatment like leather or exotic wood, Moschella and Roberts installed panels of humble medium-density fiberboard, thrice-lacquered to a rich speckled brown.”
••• Local sources include Wyeth (the sofa in the living room, Hans Wegner lounge chair in the den, and a side table in the master bedroom) and Double Knot (rugs in the living room and master bedroom).
••• Evan Yurman designed the big speaker in the living room.

The text is by Gregory Cerio, and the photographs are by William Waldron. Read the whole article, including sourcing info, here. And there are more photos on the Moschella + Roberts website.
