July 17, 2018 Restaurant/Bar News
Mid-July wouldn’t seem like the likeliest time for a ton of new restaurants (and restaurant news), but there’s so much going on that even I need help keeping score.
····················
IL MULINO
The Tribeca branch, in the former Tablao space on Greenwich, opened last night.
····················
INTERLUDE CAFÉ
The first of two pieces of news-news in this post: The café in the former Morgik Metals space on Hudson soft-opened yesterday. The glimpses on Instagram have been quite stylish.
····················
MANHATTA
Danny Meyer’s restaurant on the 60th floor of 28 Liberty (née One Chase Manhattan Plaza) opens tonight with a three-course menu for $78 (including tip).
····················
A SUMMER DAY CAFÉ
Matt Abramcyk’s second go at the former Super Linda space opens for dinner tomorrow. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
····················
HOLY GROUND
And a separate bar/restaurant (specializing in smoked meat) also opens tomorrow underneath A Summer Day Café.
····················
ATTRAVERSA
The Terra folks say that their new restaurant, across the street in the former Butterfly space, should open this week with a menu and vibe similar to Terra’s. I added some food shots to yesterday’s post.
····················
NOTED TRIBECA
The all-day café at 112 Hudson has finally started serving drinks and dinner.
····················
ZUTTO
Reopens July 24.
····················
DIG INN
The Greenwich Street outpost of the healthy-ish fast-food chain could open any day. UPDATE: “We just had to push it back a couple of weeks due to a number of factors,” says a rep.
····················
NONNA BEPPA
The second piece of news-news: Miami chef Wendy Cacciatori’s Hudson Square restaurant apparently opened last night. The menu is here.

Any word on the Poké place that is supposed to be opening next to Dig Inn?
I walked by Nonna Beppa yesterday afternoon and noticed that the tables were set. What caught my eye first was the huge brand new meat slicer box on top of the trash heaped on the curb! I didn’t realize that a new place was going in that space – good luck to them!
Is Nonna Betta related to the one in Roman ghetto? If so, very different menu. I was hoping for carciofi alla giudia, per esempio.
No relation.
Holy Ground appears to have hired the same clueless staff that put Super Linda out of business. After we were rudely told that we entered through the wrong entrance (112 Reade as advertised) at 5:25PM, for a 5:30 reservation, we were told they didn’t open until 5:30 and that we “should leave and come back in a few minutes”. We didn’t go back. Get a clue and try to last longer than the last failure in the same space…
Went to Nonna Beppa last night and was really impressed! We were greeted by the owner, Valentina, who is so invested and passionate about this venture. Her husband is the chef. The pasta is made fresh in the doorway and the menu is extensive. The food was very good and service great, especially for their second night. We will definitely be back and wish them all the best.
