Also a note on the following stories: since this newsletter is a digest of the posts from the past three days, and since the news has changed by the hour, some of these are out of date. I am still including them here, just for the record.

The dog sitting and grooming business weathered 9/11 and Sandy, but owner Keith Durst can’t see an end to the coronavirus and its devastation of the service industry.

HELP FROM THE EXPERTS TO KEEP KIDS BUSY
Neighborhood businesses that provide classes for kids are finding ways to share their expertise, their products and their lessons while kids are stuck at home or even out of the city.

LITTLE LEAGUE POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 11
A determination for the rest of the season will be made at a later date.

WHOLE FOODS LIMITING SHOPPERS TO 5O AT A TIME
The only entrance now is Greenwich Street; West Street is closed and Warren is exit only.

IN THE NEWS
Man jumps to his death in Battery Park City. Plus the concierge medical center Sollis gets tests to its members; cases identified at WeWork in Fidi.

FREE MEALS FOR STUDENTS AT LOCAL SCHOOLS
School cafeteria staff is preparing and packing meals to-go for any kids who show up at local public schools. There have not been many takers.

SEEN & HEARD
Eataly is open and serving to-go. But Frenchette, Maxwell’s and Houseman have closed — temporarily — and are appealing to fans to help support their staffs during the crisis.

COVID-19 UPDATE: WESTFIELD MALL IS CLOSED
The Westfield mall has shut down its operations, and only a few tenants still have hours posted: Eataly, Shake Shack, PNC Bank and WeWork.

YOU CAN STILL SHOP LOCAL!
Get toys delivered! Send flowers to your housebound friends! Finally have time to read? Order online and have your book waiting for you at the teller. There are still ways to shop local.

COVID-19 UPDATE: HOURS FOR WHOLE FOODS
The store will be open from 8a to 9. with the hours of 7 to 8a reserved only for people ages 60+. There are also new rules for prepared foods and a raise for employees.

IF YOU ARE DESPERATE FOR FRESH AIR
The parks are open and one of this neighborhood’s great resources in times of crisis. Plus this may be your only chance to find some free space at the fields.

WHERE IN TRIBECA?
This may be one of the only things you can do in this shelter-in-place era: walk around by yourself and look for random artifacts on the streets of the neighborhood.
