WINE-AND-BEER LICENSE: FIKA (52 DUANE)
It would be nice if more committee members read this site, sure—if nothing else, they would walk into meetings knowing something about the subjects on the agenda instead of winging it. But I’d honestly be happy if they just spent five pre-meeting minutes Googling information such as “52 Duane” so the rest of us could be spared watching them attempt to figure out where it is. Fika has a good reputation, of course, and it plans to close early (since Foley Square turns into a no-man’s land). Vote: 7-0, until someone recounted, and then it was 9-0.

WINE-AND-BEER LICENSE: MUSE PAINTBAR (329 GREENWICH)
This was actually worse than the Fika discussion, because it took quite a bit of time for members to wrap their heads around the idea of Muse Paintbar, which might be described as Color Me Mine but with painting, food, and alcohol. (A longer explanation is here.) The proprietors explained that sessions take two to two-and-a-half hours; the two-level space—formerly Telepan Local—can handle around 100 participants; and the food offerings are along the lines of cheese plates and hummus. The clientele at other Muse Paintbars is mostly adults; we’ll see what happens in Tribeca…. They’re hoping to be ready in three months, and mainly the place will be open nights and weekends. Vote: 9-0-1 (one member arrived mid-discussion).

HERITAGE OF PRIDE EVENTS ON PIER 26
This will be the third year that gay pride events are on Pier 26. The first time was a noisy disaster, but last year, after much tinkering with the speakers, there were no complaints. So they’ll do the same set-up this year. The rally is Friday, June 26, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; it’s being hosted by Tituss Burgess of “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” The women’s event is Saturday, June 27, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. And the Dance on the Pier, with Ariana Grande headlining, is Sunday, June 28, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The organizers say they flyered nearby buildings last year and will do it again this year.

SUMMER EVENTS IN HUDSON RIVER PARK
Tom Lindon of the Hudson River Park Trust gave a rundown of local events in the park this summer.

••• June 20-21: The Liberty Challenge outrigger race will finish at Pier 26, and it’s open to the public.
••• June 21: For the first New Amsterdam City Swim, swimmers raise money for ALS by swimming from Pier 45 to Pier 26, with accompanying activities, a short performance, food, etc.
••• July 16-17: AVP Beach Volleyball will have a tournament with preliminary rounds on the Pier 25 courts, and they’re building a temporary championship court on Pier 26. Open to the public and free.
••• August 22: The Blues BBQ Festival, normally somewhere else in the park, is on Pier 26 this year.
••• September: As part of Fashion Week, Givenchy will show in a tent on Pier 26. Some number of tickets will be made available to the public.

PROPOSED BUS STOP: 100 LAFAYETTE
As soon as it became clear that the applicant didn’t have enough info—and no one on the committee knew whether a bus stop exists there already—they told him to come back next month.

TEMPORARY PUBLIC PLAZA: W. BROADWAY BETWEEN FRANKLIN AND LEONARD
The Department of Transportation and Tribeca Trust would like to test (again?) a temporary public plaza on W. Broadway between Franklin and Leonard. A few committee members are SO ANGRY about the possibility (“They should be called Tribeca Untrustworthy”!), because temporary often turns to permanent. Whenever the DOT decides on a date to try it—probably September—we can expect a very contentious meeting.
