  • Laws are important and need to be enforced. Unless you are merely crapping on the Constitution and are serving as the only convicted felon living at the White House. — David Peltz on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • (Kennedy lived at 20 N. Moore, just west of Bubby’s) I know I am late to the game here, but I think 20 North Moore is east of Bubby's by ¾ of a block... Also, I remember for about a week after the plane disappeared, all the reporters were out across the street, as if waiting for them to return. All the while the pile of flowers in front of the building grew to be a couple of feet tall. — Robert Ripps on Crowd Sourcing: Remembering JFK Jr. and his time in Tribeca

  • It started with our wedding cake in 1995 and soooo many other celebrations and cakes ever since. Few things are more TriBeCa than Madelines. Halloween won't be the same without her. Thank you from the bottom of my stomach. — Thomas on Madeline Lanciani is selling Duane Park Patisserie

  • No, because it is federal property. — Tribeca Citizen on Feds will lock in courthouse plaza and public art

  • Its pretty clear that is not what I said. This person has broken three of our laws, two of which put people in harms way. The other is being in this country illegally. We can have sympathy for those who have been here for a long time and have built lives but that ends (at least for me) when someone has twice put people's lives at risk and is no different than shooting a gun and not hitting anyone. Being granted Citizenship is a privilege and not a right. This person, by his actions and by the laws of this Country, does not deserve it. — AaronK on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • The way you have phrased your statement @AaronK is misleading. Luis Fernandez did not kill Maria Santos Pleitez (or her daughter). The person that did has been arrested and is being charged for their deaths. That is how our laws work and they are being enforced (agnostic of their immigration or citizenship status). — B.Thompson on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • Well then why were all the January 6 rioters pardoned? — James on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • Many in our government, including the head of Homeland Security, have managed to forgive the current Sec’y of Defense of similar things. — Sarah Reetz on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • AaronK: Well stated. — Bobbie on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • Why should we celebrate someone convicted on DUI 12 years apart in the country illegally let free. I point out the recent case in NJ were Raul Luna-Perez who was also arrested twice for DUI and not deported or turned over to ICE becasue of "sanctuary" laws who killed Maria Santos Pleitez and her 11 year old daughter in a head on crash. He was 3x times the legal limit. We have laws for a reason and criminals who put other in danger should not be granted the privilege of staying in the US. I know it sounds heartless but this is the position we are in becasue of decisions made to not enforce our laws. — AaronK on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • This is wonderful news for Luis, his family, co-workers and everyone in the community. We will be so glad to see you return Luis. — amanda on Luis Fernandez from the Square Diner will be released within 24 hours

  • Very nice people working here. I stopped in to check it out and chatted with them. Got a fantastic fresh lemonad . — JS Miller on Catching Up With New Kids: Olive’s

  • We object to the removal of access to a rare civic center public space, an often-used pedestrian thoroughfare and valuable public art. How can the public be compensated by this direct loss to the public? New open space nearby? Investment in existing public space? Can CB1 intervene? Is NYS legislation necessary for this alienation? — Skip Blumberg on Feds will lock in courthouse plaza and public art

  • Ugh, death by a thousand cuts. It's a nice, quiet little courtyard area with some nice public art, and it's strangely a critical path for me to walk home from from work through the Seaport area to Northeast Tribeca where I live, because of the massive areas carved out and fenced off for Police Plaza and the Courthouses, plus the Brooklyn Bridge. Never mind that we have to put up with police cars parking on our streets (literally on our sidewalks) with no enforcement. Or the heaving morass of Canal Street fake bags and watches and electronics, which has been creeping South into the blocks between Broadway and Lafayette, and which the police do nothing about. Or Brooklyn Bridge itself, full of illegal vendors blocking the walkway and only occasionally cleared out by enforcement. — DG on Feds will lock in courthouse plaza and public art

  • I've tangled w/ Jan Lee on congestion pricing (he's anti, I'm pro) but I agree 100% with him here. His remarks here -- which originally appeared in Streetsblog's July 16 story you linked to -- are, sadly, telling. Also telling: the silence from CM Chris Marte. It's been nearly four weeks since the plaza was fenced off, and there hasn't been a peep from his office. PS: The Streetsblog story also has a pic of the Maya Lin sculpture that no one will now get to see. — Komanoff on Feds will lock in courthouse plaza and public art

  • We will be witnessing this move, straight out of the fascist playbook, more and more. — Heide Fasnacht on Feds will lock in courthouse plaza and public art

  • Best of luck to Madeline in her next chapter, but this will be a loss to the neighborhood. — Mary Amsterdam on Madeline Lanciani is selling Duane Park Patisserie

  • We will miss seeing Madeline in the neighborhood! Duane Park Patisserie has been such an important part of the community, especially for those of us living on the block. We wish her well in her next endeavor! — ReaderOnDuane on Madeline Lanciani is selling Duane Park Patisserie

  • I’m in agreement with you, the stuff didn’t taste fresh or have an authentic flavor to it. It’s likely because they ship their pastries from Astoria to this location, and we all know pastries are best served fresh. Nothing worse than something that’s been sitting in a case for hours, especially at $5+ an item — K Tribeca on Sneak Peek: Artion Bakery and Cafe

  • Agree to disagree with the review. While excited to try a much needed new spot/cafe in the area, the food unfortunately was a miss all around. All their staples were a bland miss. Pi Bakerie is infinitely better. — J Tribeca on Sneak Peek: Artion Bakery and Cafe

  • This brings back so many memories and good ones!! My mom used to always take me there at the end is the summer for back to school Fall gear then again for Winter gear! Very well missed! Wish the family would re-open in a new location in NYC. — Monica H on Flashback: The days of Tent & Trails

  • They also closed the one on Maiden & Water St. These locations were always so busy and cell phones are such a necessity that I can't understand these decisions. — Michael T on T Mobile on Greenwich has closed

  • It's light and air to legalize the residential lofts at 221-223 West Broadway. Practically speaking it prevents a vertical enlargement of 225. — James Bogardus on Terra building on West Broadway has been sold

  • I'm glad this great and unique location found great tenants.. I look forward to supporting them.. (and while I just discovered Cafe Clementine's great chicken salad sandwich, I think the opposite corner could compete if added (whatever happened to the chicken salad sandwich from scratch.. especially a Waldorf version!!, lol) — B.Thompson on Catching Up With New Kids: Olive’s
