It’s been a while since I last recapped what we know about storefronts being developed. If I think about tackling it all at once, I get paralyzed, so here’s the first in a series—north of Chambers and west of Hudson.

NEW NAIL SALON AND SPA
This is news (and yet it isn’t at all): Yet another nail salon (and “spa”) is coming to Tribeca, specifically the western retail space in the Zinc Building (475 Greenwich, at Canal). I had heard it’d be a wine store, but things change.

BILLBOARD COMPANY
And my source tells me that a billboard company has taken the eastern space.

AMERICAN FLATBREAD
As reported here first, Vermont-based pizza chain American Flatbread is opening in what used to be a deli at the northwest corner of Hudson and Desbrosses. It’s a partnership with Billy Reilly of Tribeca Rooftop and Three Sixty, the event spaces on the top two floors of the building. There’s more info on the restaurant in my write-up about the proprietors’ appearance before the CB1 Tribeca committee. It’s not opening before the end of the year.

LOLË
The Canadian women’s fitness-apparel company has sort of opened a “showtique” (showroom + boutique) at 24 Hubert, next to Oly Studio. The showroom part is open for wholesalers, but the boutique part isn’t, despite the hours listed on the window. They’re targeting Sept. 1.

KUTSHER’S TRIBECA
The legendary Catskills resort is spinning off a kosher-style restaurant at 186 Franklin (where Mai House most recently was). They’re saying it’ll be a late-October opening.

TRIBECA TAPROOM
A restaurant and bar is coming to the old Pig ‘N’ Whistle space at 363 Greenwich. Owner Nick McKeon had hoped to be open by the end of August, but it doesn’t look that close. There’s more about Tribeca Taproom in my write-up about McKeon’s second appearance in front of CB1 Tribeca.

JUNG SIK
Jung Sik Yim, the chef/owner of Jung Sik Dang in Seoul, is planning a high-end Korean restaurant at 2 Harrison, where Chanterelle was. It’s supposed to open this fall. Read about a meal at Jung Sik Dang’s Seoul flagship here.

SARABETH’S TRIBECA
It kills me when I see someone on Twitter saying “Wow! Sarabeth’s is opening in Tribeca!” because I’ve been reporting about this for what feels like years. Converting the old Bazzini’s store involved a lot of speed bumps, but they’re saying it’ll open by the end of this month.

DESIGN FIRM DAMON LISS
An unknown design firm is said to be Interior designer Damon Liss—whose work you may recall from this Loft Peeping post—is opening an office in the Hudson Street storefront just south of Torly Kid (it used to be the home of real-estate firm William B. May). He says it’ll be ready in a month or so.

EMPORIO 50
Here’s what I wrote in the last Progress Report (March): “In December, owner Eric Schlagman presented a new concept to the CB1 Tribeca committee: There were once plans for a chocolate café on the Hudson part of 50 Hudson (where Crewcuts opened in February), but Schlagman moved his restaurant’s entrance around the corner, on little-traveled Thomas (where kids’-and-women’s store PB & Caviar was). “There will still be chocolate,” he told the committee, “but we’ll be more focused on baking. We have an amazing baker.” Sure enough, the menu lists focaccia and ‘stuffed bread,’ sandwiches (one was grilled eggplant, ricotta salata, and greens), soups, pastries (chocolate covered pretzel bread!), and gelato. The restaurant, which may or may not be called Emporio 50, seats 50 in 1,200 square feet. Schlagman asked to sell beer, wine, and liquor, with occasional live music (acoustic only, from solo performers to trios).” No clue if it’s still happening; I don’t have contact info for Schlagman. Does anyone ever see workers going in there? Also, I believe the dba name was listed as Emporio 50 on the liquor-license application, but that was a long time ago.

PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMIC CONSULTANTS
As reported here in January, the Upper West Side’s Pediatric Ophthalmic Consultants, founded by Dr. Mark Steele, is opening a satellite office at 141 Reade (where Lotus Salon was, if I remember correctly). The uptown office says they’re “hoping to open toward the end of the year.”

POLARN O. PYRET
As you read here first, the Swedish kids’ clothing brand Polarn O. Pyret is opening its second U.S. store (the first is in Greenwich, Conn.) at 200 Chambers, with another to follow on the Upper West Side.
