Town Stages’s cultural programs weren’t controversial when presented to Community Board 1 and neighboring residents. To fund them, however, the organization will serve as an event space at night, hosting weddings, benefits, and other functions. Stymied by CB1—which is now actively opposing the liquor license—Town Stages is going straight to the State Liquor Authority.
