Neighbors on Franklin between Varick and Hudson have had a homeless encampment on their block for months, even as the city continues to reach out.

THE RETURN OF THE FIELDS
The Battery Park City fields are open for play, and Governors Island opens on Wednesday.

NYPL LOCAL LOCATIONS STILL CLOSED
The public library branch on Murray Street is nearing completion after two years, but the libraries in the neighborhood remain closed for the coronavirus.

A SHORT BIKE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD – THEN AND NOW
The neighborhood went quiet in March and April, then started to reopen in May, then boarded up in June and is now back from under its shroud — somewhat.

SEEN & HEARD
Mulberry & Vine is back open. Plus see some Tribeca Film Festival classics at the Tribeca Drive-In at Orchard Beach; Five & Dime is open and serving.

WHAT’S LEFT OF LOCAL PET SERVICES
With dogs now home full time with their owners, or out of the city altogether, services for them have shuttered around the neighborhood.
