Wendy Goodman, who has a worthwhile blog/newsletter called Design Hunting on New York magazine’s website, scoped out the 2,000-square-foot, fourth-floor loft owned by author-actor Anthony Crane and fashion photographer Amanda Pratt. Goodman says that what stood out for her was the way the “loft manages to effortlessly integrate adult and children’s décor,” though I didn’t include some of those pix, so click this link to see the full slideshow (and read the full text, including captions). I just wanted some of the Pratt-Crane stuff. And I think Goodman’s lo-fi photo sensibility—no offense, I’m an amateur, too—is refreshingly unslick.
Notable info about the furnishings:
• The sectional sofa came from a Rago auction in Lambertville, N.J.
• “The paper rhinoceros head, bought at a yard sale, is constructed out of old French newspapers”
• “The deer horns were found on Shelter Island, where the family owns a rustic fisherman’s shack.” OK, now I want that, too. (I mean the shack, not the antlers.)
• The room with the Tribeca skyline view and the plant-in-a-glass-bulb (Adam, my birthday is coming up) is “Anthony’s office, where he’s currently working on his children’s book Phenegher Strump and the Bug Hall Ball.”
• “Prop stylist Sara Foldenauer is a friend and collaborator of Amanda’s and is known for her cardboard designs,” such as the tree.
• The upstairs cubby hole is “reached by an aluminum telescoping ladder.”
