UPSTAIRS DRAMA
I heard from someone that Upstairs was closing, so I called Bouley—the restaurant, not the man—to ask. The woman who answered went to check, and then she came back and confirmed that Saturday would be its last day. So I posted an item! Well, it turns out that Upstairs wasn’t closing so much as significantly changing. The details are here, including the announcement of the changes, which shifted as the day went on. The name will be Bouley Studio, and there will also be milkshakes. (P.S. Thanks to everyone who posted supportive comments. The positive response was really gratifying.)

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: IMAGINE SWIMMING
It’s not entirely fair to call Imagine Swimming a “new kid on the block,” given that the company has been offering children’s swim lessons at BMCC since 2004. But as of this week, Imagine has a pool of its own.

ART STUDENTS LEAGUE TO THE RESCUE!
I was in a crabby mood—due in good part to the heat, no doubt—but it lifted when, while walking down Staple Street, I noticed an artist painting at an easel. And then another one. And another one! It was as if a flock of talented butterflies had come to visit us.
