The polls are closed, the results have been tabulated—thanks to the 1,124 people who voted—and the rejoicing can begin. The readers’ choices for Best of Tribeca 2014 are below. I included runner(s)-up if the race was close.
*Favorite new restaurant: LITTLE PARK
Runners-up: Tutto Il Giorno, El Vez, Racines NY. *Unfortunately, this category has to have an asterisk, because I managed to forget three notable restaurants that opened in Tribeca in 2014: Washington Market Tavern, Añejo, and Church Street Tavern.
Favorite new casual restaurant: SWEETGREEN
Runners-up: Baked, Arcade Bakery, Tribeca’s Kitchen.
*Favorite new restaurant at Hudson Eats: MIGHTY QUINN’S
Runners-up: Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar, Umami Burger. *And somehow, Num Pang didn’t make the survey. My New Year’s resolution? Don’t screw this up next year.
Best new bar: GRAND BANKS
Runner-up: Evening Bar.
Best new fitness facility: THE LIVE WELL COMPANY
Best new shopping: LA GARÇONNE
Runners-up: EGG by Susan Lazar, Dutch Petals, Jack Erwin.
Biggest bummer: THE HARRISON
(Nothing else came close.)
New development you’d most like to live in: WOOLWORTH TOWER RESIDENCES
Runners-up: 56 Leonard, 443 Greenwich, Sterling Mason.
Most momentous opening in 2014: 9/11 MEMORIAL PLAZA FENCES DOWN
Runner-up: Opening of Hudson Eats.
