A Vroom of One’s Own

Groupon's "side deal" today is a sweet one for anyone who's passed by Classic Car Club Manhattan, on Hudson, and dreamed of driving one of those insane cars. For $399—normally $900—you get a day of driving six cars in the Bear Mountain region.

Dancing on Air

If the promotional stills for Time Lapse Dance's upcoming visit to the Tribeca Performing Arts Center are any indication, it's going to be quite a beautiful show.

Inside Pier A: The Third Floor and Clocktower

As exciting as the first and second floors were, the high point—indeed!—was the clocktower, up a narrow spiral staircase at the far end of the second floor.

Inside Pier A: The Second Floor

A look at Pier A's stunning second floor, including interior walls done in anaglypta—essentially pressed paper—and the wood-paneled Commissioner's Room.

Inside Pier A: The First Floor

The Battery Park City Authority invited the local press to check out Pier A, the old building-on-a-pier just west of Battery Park. It was magical visit: I'm sure it'll be beautiful when completed, but the romantic in me loved looking at the layers of history. / 3 comments

A Peek at TriBeCafe

TriBeCafe is scheduled to open tomorrow, Feb. 9, in the old Tokyo Bar space at 277 Church (White/Franklin). It’s from the team behind Greenwich Grill, according to the website, the menu will be “Tokyo Casual Cuisine.” Not sure what that means? Have a look at the menu. A Card-Carrying Tightwad

I like a deal: In recent weeks, I've posted about Blackboard Eats and Groupon, two services that appeal to the miser in me. But there's one kind of deal I'm on the fence about—loyalty cards.
