Nosy Neighbor: Is Beach Street Getting Reversed?

Several months ago, I think in the fall, you mentioned that Beach Street was going to get a reversal of traffic between Hudson and Greenwich changing from westbound traffic to eastbound traffic. That will certainly stop the Tunnel traffic exiting on our street and hopefully some of the bus traffic too. Any news on that? —R.

In January 2011, Community Board 1’s Tribeca Transportation and Parking Regulations Subcommittee recommended that the block in question be reversed. According to the Department of Transportation, however, CB1’s full board voted 30-to-4 against the proposal, so that was the end of that. Apologies for not going to the full board meeting to follow up on it, but I don’t have the fortitude to handle those things.
