Do you know why they are enclosing the City Vineyard restaurant with high exterior walls? Seems to me the pleasure in eating there is the panoramic view. Did I miss something? —M.
I thought it must have something to do with the construction of Pier 26 (renderings here and here), but when I walked over to take a look, I saw that it’s pretty substantial. Turns out to have nothing to do with the pier at all. “The fence you are referring to is a temporary flood wall that we are required to build in order to demonstrate to the city/Hudson River Park that we are capable of building in the event of a hurricane/flood,” said a City Vineyard rep. “We’ll be taking it down next week!”

the “temporary flood wall” is drilled into the paving stones in a way that will permanently scar them. pretty serious stuff.
God forbid we “permanently scar” the paving stones.
Maybe we can get the cambridge paving stones with armotek… I hear they look just like new?
