Do you happen to know what happened to Danny—our ice man on the corner of Greenwich and Chambers? He was there for a couple of weeks and now we haven’t seen him. He is a part of Tribeca in the summer and I hope he is OK. —M.

Danny Castro’s 25 years of selling ice on that corner may have come to an end. The fruit vendor across the street said he hasn’t seen Castro for a month, and he worries that Castro ran into permitting trouble. I tried calling the number on the umbrella (as seen in a Tribeca Trib photo), but it rang and rang. Does anyone know more? (The photo is courtesy Google Maps, which blurs out faces.)

UPDATE: On Facebook, Amy said she saw him at Prince and Greene last Sunday. Anyone in that area, please ask him if there’s a chance of him coming back.
