Nosy Neighbor: What Is Maison di Prima?

There’s a sign for Maison di Prima at 81 Leonard. What is it? —D.

Maison di Prima is a fashion line founded by Manuela di Prima (pictured above). She started the business in 2009 while in Italy, making a limited collection of pieces for women; after attending Parsons, she began making suits for men. Maison di Prima currently encompasses wholesale womenswear (mainly dresses and outerwear) and custom-made menswear (suits, blazers, coats, and trousers). The elegantly simple ground-floor showroom on Leonard is by appointment only (212-334-4455).
