Any idea when BMCC will finally rid us of the trailers skirting the West Side Highway? Haven’t they been there since just after 9/11? And aren’t they obsolete now that the new Fiterman Hall has opened? —N.

The plan was indeed that the trailers would be removed once Fiterman Hall opened late last summer. I asked BMCC twice since then, but never heard back (as I pointed out when Troy Torrison wished they’d go away). Then N. emailed, so I figured I should ask again, even though I feared that no answer meant that they were becoming permanent.

But no! Barry Rosen, BMCC’s executive director of public affairs, had this to say: “BMCC transferred the trailers to CUNY and DASNY [Dormitory Authority of the State of New York] June 2012 and we are informed that DASNY will demolish and remove all debris in September.”
