Nosy Neighbor: When Will City Hall Park’s Fountain Get Turned On?

What’s up with the fountain in City Hall Park? Shouldn’t it be working by now? I just walked through Bowling Green and its fountain is beautiful. —Anonymous

According to the New York City Parks Department, the city has been in the process of turning on all of its fountains. Because the Bowling Green one (below) is a single level, it’s simpler to get going; City Hall’s multi-level fountain should be ready in two weeks or so, depending on the weather, which was unseasonably chilly last week.

  1. Also wondering why the gas lamps in City Hall Park haven’t been on for months. Are they gone forever?

  2. The boards are off and there was a guy in there cleaning it up this morning

  3. Perhaps our mayor is trying to line up a sponsorship deal for the fountain and he is having a hard time calculating which deal he can pocket the most money from.
