Nosy Neighbor: Where Did That Citi Bike Station Go?

Why was the Citi Bike stand on Church between Leonard and Worth suddenly removed yesterday afternoon? Inquiring minds want to know. —P.

“We removed the station temporarily due to construction on Jan. 31,” emailed the Citi Bike rep. “We had anticipated being able to re-install it within 10 days, but it just depends on when the construction at that site is finished and given the weather I am guessing it might be delayed a bit, not sure.”

When I went over to take a photo, I saw no evidence of construction, so I asked whether she knew if we were talking about street construction, work at 66 Leonard, or something else. When/if I hear back, I’ll update it here.

  1. Only change around there has been the slow removal of the scaffolding around 66 Leonard. Other than that, it’s been the same since even before those docking stations were first put in place.

  2. The crane used at 56 Leonard is about to be replaced, which will shut down Leonard btwn Church & West Broadway…I bet that activity is what the Citibike rep was referring to.

    • I should add…’temporarily shut down Leonard…’ Once the new crane is in installed the street will open up again.
