Do you know what’s happening at 87 Leonard? No activity since the last summer. The interior appears nearly complete (or as complete as it was last summer). It surprises me that no one has swooped in to buy it and finish the job. —A.

Last time A. asked about the building was in June, and someone at the owner, Go Cat Go, said that (my words) “work was paused while they ‘redo the budget,’ and that the building could end up being condos or rentals, depending on the market.”

Someone has indeed swooped in: Ben Shaoul’s Magnum Real Estate Group (also behind the Verizon Building condos at 140 West, the Arman, and many other buildings) is the new owner, and a rep said work “should be done in four to five months.” There will be seven units, and they’ll be condos—unless the intrafamily lawsuit causes a holdup….

UPDATE 3/1/14: I hear that Shaoul is only the sponsor; the building is owned by Deutsche Bank.
